Renamed the Young Writers Camp but continuing in the rich tradition of the Young Writers Institute workshop model, this summer we made a smooth transition to the Mt. Lebanon Enrichment Program.

Singer, songwriter and teacher John Young led a terrific visiting writer workshop and our Writing Marathon day found us writing all over uptown Mt. Lebanon.  We hope to see many new and returning campers next summer!

Young Writers Camp 2016: A Three Voice Poem

I am Georgia, Sarah and Kristin

Everyone has a song to sing

A story to tell

Three voices conducting

Twenty-six writers

Memories, Neighborhoods and Maps

Our symphony’s first notes sounded on Mango Street

With solos and spotlights

On Bio Poems

And the simple notes of the Essence of an Object

Inspiration, Music and Voice

Were found in uptown Mt. Lebanon

Twenty-six voices played in unison

As we grew into a symphony of writers

As each unique instrument

Called and responded

To another

One perfect note

Two perfect weeks
